“On October 20, Dr. Shields assisted our sweet fur baby, Plato, to doggy heaven. He made us feel so comfortable. He let us know exactly what he was doing, he did not rush us and told us wonderful stories, which really helped to keep us calm. Dr. Shield’s bedside manner is awesome. We truly think he is the best vet ever!!! Thank you so much, Dr. Shields.”

Testimonials

“It has only been a little over a week since our Zoey left us, but I felt it necessary to write this testimonial. Dr. Shields provided a caring, empathetic and safe space for her to pass. The devastation is real and he understands that. Initially, she lost the use of her back legs, but the next day she was walking normal. When I called Dr. Shields, he said “I think she has more time.” He was right and we got more than an additional week with her. Once she couldn’t walk for two days, he agreed it was time. He came right away, no waiting, no anxiety he got to our house two hours later. He tolerated her growling, scratches and attempting to bite, she was scared and that killed me but I’ve had to say goodbye to previous pets in an office, this was much more personal and better for her. I cry every day because I miss her so, Dr. Shields made this awful event that much easier and left us with a paw print and her ashes were returned in a timely manner in a beautiful urn. Thank you Dr. Shields!”

“When my husband and I came home from work Wednesday May 17th our boxer had taken a turn for the worse and we had to make the hard decision of what we were going to do. He would of been 11 years old in August and he was an all white boxer. He started losing his hearing, eye sight and he had bad arthritis. On top of all of that he was throwing up and had diarrhea which lead to him not wanting to eat or drink and he lost a lot of weight. I sent a message to Dr. Donald Shields and he called to discuss everything. He came out the next morning to help Curious transition to a pain free life over the rainbow bridge. Dr. Shields was so nice and compassionate and explained each and every step. We are so thankful he was able to help our baby.”

“It’s never easy making this call. Lap of Love didn’t have any weekend availability, and I couldn’t let my boy Marco be in pain for that long. So I called Dr. Shields, who said he could be there the next day. I couldn’t find many reviews and was slightly nervous, but Dr. Shields was punctual and professional. You can tell he’s been doing this for awhile, but he wasn’t just going through the motions. He was caring and didn’t hesitate to share his own cat stories from being a pet owner, as well as a vet. He sent us a condolence card as well that meant a lot to me and my fiancee. The price was not unreasonable either. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants to say goodbye at home.”
Thank you Dr. Shields.

Dear Dr. Shields,
We wanted to reach out and thank you for helping us say goodbye to our sweet girl, Jane, last weekend. We can’t imagine how tough a job that is, but your work is so appreciated – since June began showing signs of illness in early summer, she began showing signs of aggression when we’d take her to the vet – very unlike her, and limiting our ability to get the info we needed to help her. When you came to our house and she wagged her tail, we knew she knew you were there to help and that she was ready to go. Being able to say goodbye to her on our couch – her favorite place – was a true blessing – we know her last moments were so comfortable and stress free as possible and that she got the dignified and compassionate goodbye she deserved. We were so lucky to have had almost 10 years, miles of hikes, tons of camping trips and other adventures with her.
Thank you so much. – Liz and Jason
